In a global and open world without boarders, the concept of a secured life has started to gain on strategic importance.

Globalisation and developments in technology, the countries' requirements for security in every aspect have appeared. Homeland security, which is treated in a wide range from the threat of the division of a nation's territory up to the safe life of the citizens, is an overall defence and threat prevention concept, expressing the nation wide work realized at governmental level to protect from internal and external threats but at the same time from dangers caused by the nature and human beings.

"Homeland Security" concept has not only been limited with military defence in terms of security. It has also shown, that it has to be involved into every field of life. In short, beside military organization in the field of national security, the issue of civil organization has started to gain on importance as well. The coordination of information technology infrastructure of different institutions and structures such as the armed forces, gendarmerie, coast security, police and emergency ruling center have come up.

Homeland Security Conference is organised with the support of SASAD (Defence Industry Manufacturers Association) and TESID (Turkish Association of Electronics and Information Industries).

Homeland security covering a wide area starting from transportation to health, from environment to terrorism and city security will be discussed with all its aspects by experts at Bilisim Zirvesi ’08.
